So I went to a very small elementary school for K through third grade, and it was seriously aces. We had only one long hallway, and every year we made a school quilt for Women's History Month, and had a "Jelly Bean Field Day" where you basically got a bunch of jelly beans for doing amazingly fun things outside (seriously!). Also, in gym class we learned square dancing and had an annual square dancing performance and of course, I had to look the part. My brother clearly was dressing for a "John Waters' 80s" costume party at his kindergarten class... or something. 

Okay so also – even though I'm not wearing glasses in the "then" picture, I threw these Oliver Peoples in there because I broke my frames at Igloo Fest in Montreal this weekend. It was p craycray. I want some new frames like these, just not for the OP price (but darn are they pretty). I am also over the moon for the new Proenza accessories... and the shoes and shirt and all of it.

"Oh hey guys I'm just the mother effin Statue of Libertayy try not to be too jealouss!" Once I figured out that all I had to do was hold a book and put one hand in the air, I was on my way to being the best Statue of Liberty this side of the Statue of Liberty. And I did this move a lot. Even without teeth okay I did it a lot.

Givenchy Pre Fall 2011

The feelings that I have about this collection are pretty serious. Givenchy Pre Fall 2011 is pretty much exactly what I want to wear, all the time. It's fancy and feminine and boyish and chic. And those lace-up platform boots. And those varsity jackets.

"Oh hey guys, here I am just checking out the sights to see in good ole Santa Fe." I freakin loved Santa Fe. This was the first time I ever flew on a plane and I totally killed it! I really really loved this dress, I'm pretty sure my grandma made it for me my mom made it for me and the fabric was really awesome.

I'm in deep hearts with Proenza pre-fall 2011. I'll probably do a post on that collection later in the week if I'm on top of my game and not too busy watching The Catherine Tate show (which you should watch if you appreciate Kristen Wiig-style humor and British accents). Also, truth be told this might be my favorite "Now" look to date... I pine for it all.

To Grandmother's House We Go: Part 2

As promised, here are some more pictures from my grandma's house. She has bar none the most amazing bathroom of all time. It's covered in mirrored wallpaper, has a giant vanity mirror, and the hand towels are kept in a ceramic lion. I adore it.

It's become a tradition for the cousins to sneak away during Christmas eve every year to try on all her incredible jewelry and get a spritz of perfume. These pictures don't even cover a half of what she has, it's pretty awesome. Here are some highlights, I hope you enjoy.

To Grandmother's House We Go: Part 1

My grandmother's house is pretty magical. She has a giant sewing room full of yards and yards of mudcloth, batik, plaid, and hundreds nay THOUSANDS of buttons.When I was a kid, I used to spend hours upon hours sorting bags of buttons from garage and estate sales. It was very important business and I loved doing it. My grandma used to make me the most exquisite coats, one years was a red wool number with black trim at the sleeves and a matching red beret – I got street snapped wearing it! I was about 6 I think. I definitely owe my love of fashion in large part to her. Also my love of Shirley Temple movies, Rex Harrison and Ovaltine.

Anywhoo I hope you enjoy this peek into her sewing room, and hopefully I can dig up some photos of her creations to show you too. She also collects pottery in different colors – white, yellow, green, etc which I've included here, and part two will include her unbelievably glam jewelz, bathroom and closet. Stay tuned!
